New projects FLARE and EQUAL

This year, FORUM became a proud partner in two new two-year European projects, FLARE and EQUAL, both primarily focused on strengthening the rights of Roma communities. We are very pleased to be part of these important initiatives and to collaborate with our partners.

1. FLARE – Fundamental Rights, Litigation, Awareness Raising, and Equality (October 2025 – September 2027)

The overall objective of FLARE is to enhance awareness about the application of the EU Charter in strategic litigation related to the fundamental rights of the Roma, and to increase their access to justicein the Czech Republic and Romania by building the capacity of CSOs and legal practitioners and by fostering cooperation among them.

The kick-off meeting took place on November 6, 2025, in Budapest, where we met with our partners: Minority Rights Group Europe Service (MRGE) and Asociatia Juristilor Romi RomaJust (RomaJust). It was inspiring to see such strong commitment from all partners and enthusiasm for our common objective.

2. EQUAL – Empowering communities for intersectional justice and litigation (October 2025 – September 2027)

At the same time, we became partners in the EQUAL project, which supports marginalized communities and legal practitioners in their efforts to conduct intersectional, community-led strategic litigation under EU law, including the Charter of Fundamental Rights. The project takes place in four EU countries: Czechia, Greece, Italy, and Hungary. Its aim is to strengthen the capacities of communities, human rights lawyers, and other relevant stakeholders to effectively engage in intersectional and community-led strategic litigation under EU law, including the Charter of Fundamental Rights.

In the Czech context, EQUAL focuses on supporting Roma communities and persons with disabilities in Prague, Central Bohemia, and Ostrava, addressing structural issues such as segregation, insufficient access to legal aid, and the overrepresentation of Roma children and children with disabilities in institutional care.
