FORUM has long been dedicated to the rights of persons with disabilities and strives for the implementation of all rights enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. We provide legal advice and representation to people with disabilities, both adults and children, who face barriers in exercising their rights in everyday life. Together with our partners, we work to improve the situation of people with disabilities in both countries and highlight poor practices and laws in this area.
We are actively working on the following issues:
- Deinstitutionalisation
- Victims of ill-treatment with disability
- Inclusive education for children with disabilities
- Legal capacity and alternatives to limiting it
- Access to services for people with disabilities
- Rights of older people
- Rights of people with disabilities in the criminal justice system
- Women and children in institutions
We work with a number of international and local organisations that share the same goals. Our main partners are:
- Social Work Advisory Board (Slovakia)
- SOCIA – Social Reform Foundation (Slovakia)
- Inclusion Czech Republic (Czech Republic)
- VALIDITY (Hungary)
